What to expect
What Rockstar announced
Rockstar Games confirmed on 6 August that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3 p.m. Eastern. The same footage reaches Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website at 9 p.m. Eastern the same day — a six-hour window in which Netflix is the only place to see it.
Netflix has described the arrangement as a first-of-its-kind partnership. Neither company has said how long the footage runs.
Why this is not Trailer 3
The two Grand Theft Auto VI trailers so far arrived in December 2023 and December 2024, each a couple of minutes of cut footage. An extended look is Rockstar's own phrasing and it is deliberately different: it points at something longer than a trailer, and Rockstar has never shown this game running.
That is worth tempering. Rockstar has not promised gameplay and has not used the word. What is confirmed is the date, the two platforms and the six-hour gap between them.
What it means for the release date
Nothing, so far. Grand Theft Auto VI is dated 19 November 2026, which Rockstar set in November 2025 after moving the game out of its original 2025 window and then again from 26 May 2026.
A marketing beat three months out is more consistent with that date holding than with it moving — a publisher does not buy a Netflix premiere for a game it is about to delay. But that is an inference, not an announcement, and this page will not treat it as one.
Do you need a subscription?
For the first six hours, yes: a Netflix account. From 9 p.m. Eastern the footage is free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and on the official Grand Theft Auto VI site, with no account of any kind.

Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3 p.m. Eastern on Netflix, then 9 p.m. Eastern on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site. In Saudi Arabia that is 10 p.m. on the 27th and 4 a.m. on the 28th.
Do I need a Netflix subscription to watch it?
Only for the first six hours. From 9 p.m. Eastern the same footage is free on YouTube and on Rockstar's own site, with no account required.
Is this GTA 6 gameplay?
Rockstar has not said. The announcement calls it an extended look and goes no further — it does not use the word gameplay, and no Grand Theft Auto VI footage shown so far has been the game running.
Is this Trailer 3?
Rockstar has not called it a trailer. The two previous trailers ran a couple of minutes each; this is described only as longer, which is why it is treated here as its own thing rather than as the third trailer.
Has the GTA 6 release date changed?
No. Grand Theft Auto VI is still dated 19 November 2026. Nothing in this announcement changes it.
